Crown beaches.

Post by GTFC197 »

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I am a newbie. 🀣 When I look at the coastal map of UK about Crown owned beaches and there are huge areas of purple, are these areas where you can detect.
A little bit confusing at the moment.
Looking at Norfolk coast, especially North Norfolk.
Be gentle with me. 🀞🀞🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣

Purple does not mean you can detect on it

Not purple dose not mean you can not detect on it

Each beach is different

Take Holkham beach, it owned by the crown so purple, but lease out and the estate say NO

Or Blackpool not purple but Councle say YES and is SSSI

Some Councle say yes even on site of special scientific interest SSSI. Yet NCMD say no without writen consent

And so on

There's no blanket answer, you need to ask about indervidual beaches, or better still do your own research.

Also interested in North Norfolk and a newbie to metal detecting. Attended one of the WDS digs so at least I knew it was legal - but am a little nervous about detecting on the beaches even if they're coloured purple on the Crown map.

How are you getting on?

There's some beaches in north Norfolk you

Can't detect

Nature reserve and national trust being two I can think of

There's also some areas that's probably not a good idea, old ww2 bombing ranges

But these still plenty to go at

However it's not my area of the UK, it would be better if someone local advises you
