what can i expect to find on cleethorpes beach

Unfortunately Cleethorpes is the only council that requires you pay for a permit to detect on its beaches. As you live in the area and want to detect the beaches often then it will be worth getting one to give you unlimited access without problems from the council officials.

Any info on things people have found out on cleethorpes beach or good places to detect in grimsby would be very helpful as am just starting out and not sure were the best places to hunt are as of yet

Hi Uklad,

The things you could find on Cleethorpes beach are what you find on any other beach in the country, coins, rings, jewellery, car & house keys, toy cars, lighters, ring pulls, drinks cans ......... in other words anything made of metal that a person is likely to loose on the beach.

Also as you go along none metallic things show up. My kids were never short of free buckets and spades, balls and plastic beach shoes when they were growing up, in fact the grand kids use them now.

Get out there and give it a try and you will be amazed at some of the things people loose.

hey thanks Machinist for ur reply loads gr8 info am really looking forward to getting out on the beach now and seeing what i can find:) i hope to make a collection of all my finds and can see this being the start of a really good new hobby for me:)

shredded coke can,
rust off the pier,

these will be your main finds but the odd vicky gold ring will make up for all the bad digs, a friend of mine lives in cleethorpes and has had some nice finds.

Good luck on the beach, I don't want to put you off but be prepared for a lot of rubbish finds as well, most here including myself post our good bits, but a massive amount of junk is dug to get this, I currently have 12kg of brass alloy and 4kg of lead in the recycle bags, and I dread to think how much went in the bin lol

I did find a 1936 Penny the other day in the sea, but it was in poor condition, so the stuff is there, there are good ring finds to be had on the beach though, learn the beech as after a storm stuff moves and that is the best time to go in

thank u all so much for all ur trps as am new to the hobby i dnt mind digging any thing at the min lol its all exciting to think what i could be befor its dug up and ends up a tin can haha ur so right tho if i find any old coins or rings that will make up for all the junk

my best find is the gold ring:) hope i av alot more good finds to come aswell in the future can see it being a start of a really good hobby for me now
