I've got a used XP ORX off eBay and have been trying it in the garden.
I buried a 2p coin about 6 inches deep, but the ORX can't detect it. I've tried the four standard programmes and even fiddled with the settings a bit.
Should the ORX be able to detect that?
Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?
Advice for a newbie please

Hi Patrick, I do now have an Orx, but it should be able to work like any other machine and find coins.
I hope an Orx owner pops in here and offers you some good advice on settings.
Try the coin at around 3 ins to make sure the coil is picking it up and then get those settings back to what the handbook suggests, Liam

Your using a coin which depending on age could quite possibly be nickle plated steel, if your ORX is in a setting which descriminates out ferrous " Iron / Steel " targets then that is your answer.Patricko2 wrote: Sat Jan 13, 2024 6:32 pm I've got a used XP ORX off eBay and have been trying it in the garden.

Make sure first you bury a target that is not steel or a junk target.
Since September 1992 2 Pence`s have been made from copper-plated steel.

If your 2p coin was minted after 1992 they were produced in bi metal having an iron (Ferrous) core so can be easily ignored due to discrimination settings. The copper coating is
electro-plated. There may be nothing wrong with your Orx.
Do a retest using appropriate coin
Cheers Eric
