Hi . Good luck. It's the hardest part of the hobby finding somewhere to detect legally with permission.

Try asking around among anyone you know, if they know anyone (as a friend) who has a bit of land you could detect on, even a small bit, and ask them if they will put in a word for you.Leebo wrote: Sat Apr 20, 2024 7:34 am Thanks bam bam ya not wrong there mate it's a shame because I really enjoy it .and want to be able to go find some amazing things . It's often easier getting land via someone else who knows someone as because they know you and know the person with the land, the person with land is more likely to say yes.
After well over 35 years of detecting I am more brazen, I just straight out ask people when I meet them if they have any land, and if they say yes, I then ask them how they feel about metal detectorists. I've got a good 2000 acres of permissions this way (most farms down this way are only about 200 acres or so, or less).

Unfortunately, it's unlikely to bring offers of available land from farmers/landowners or multiple invitations from fellow detectorists to accompany them on their 'permissions', it does however, go some way to outline the current detecting situation in the 'real world' so to speak.
There's also more help available in the 'permissions' forum (within the blue pane on the left).

Good Luck. Regards Eric

It's not what you don't know that is the problem. It's what you think you know, that just isn't so.
