"The Council does not allow metal detecting on any of its land, including
the Wirral foreshore. Metal detecting is illegal within the site of a
scheduled ancient monument. Detecting on private land requires the written
permission of the landowner. Any finds discovered in England are subject

The majority of Wirral’s foreshore is owned by the Authority
They haven't officially allowed metal detecting as long as I have been detecting
There's also quite a few SSSI on the Wirral
The Dee Estuary
The Mersey Estuary
North Wirral Foreshore
Red Rocks, Hoylake
Dee Cliffs, Thurstaston
At one time you could ask a ranger if it was okay to detect
And they would unofficially turn a blind eye, a lot of the beaches are groomed anyhow
But I would guess people have pushed their luck too far
