An hour's learning curve.

Think I'm finally in the correct place with this, [57/] ,I went to the farm yesterday morning to show the farmer the little bit of tithe map research I had on hand, also to check if the silage cut had begun, after a chat he said I could have a play with the CTX3030 settings in between the swathes he'd already cut, I did an hour through the menus & had a promising first real find;

A nice 39g weight musket ball, 17th century, with a very high impact flat, & no sprue marks.
The ball was only lightly oxidised, so I might be able to assume the soil conditions close by are around neutral ph,so hopefully any coinage that may be found should have a bit of condition.

Forgot to mention the musket ball was elbow deep 14"

A 20 gramme pistol ball, measuring 0.6 " (I'm guessing for .22 flintlock pistol), this one is showing sprue and again an impact flat, about a hundred yards from the earlier musket ball, six inches down.
