Fob Seal

Post by ianp »

Hi, I found this fob seal over the weekend and would like to know if the orange material is wax and should I remove it to see if there is an intaglio beneath it. Any thoughts would be welcome. Thanks

It's an excellent find, but not in great condition Ian, so I personally wouldn't be too worried about damaging it by cleaning. It's difficult to see from the photos, but it doesn't look like there is an intaglio under that crud. [42/]

Thanks Brad, I think I may leave it as it was found. It will look better with the orange material attached rather than without. [81/]
