That only works if the silver has a sulphide corrosion layer (black/blue) if it is clean you wont smell anything, it might however be a pewter or tombac type alloy which can come out of the ground with a silvery appearance. ![ThumbsUp [81/]](./images/smilies/81_EmoticonsHDcom.png)
