Are these floor tiles?

Post by Mini-mustard »

Good morning everyone!
Could any knowledgeable folk please id these two similar pieces of what appears to be, a tile of some sorts?
These were found in the same hole around a very historical medieval site I gained permission on!
Thank you all!

It's hard to say without picking them up but by the pics they look like thin, old, natural paving stone. Like Yorkshire stone but thinner.

Is there any hint at all of added colouring?

They look very much like the roof tiles I had on a 400y old barn.

They look like stone to me. Could theoretically be stone roof tiles but without a nail hole can't be proven one way or another. Could be floor tiles but, again, if stone, almost unprovable unless you find them in situ
