Coin or something else?

Hello

I found this at a dig at Messing in Essex at the weekend, it is quite corroded with no detail apart from some small nodules on one side, perhaps a coin or maybe a tag, any thoughts appreciated. Thanks

Too far gone I suspect for an accurate ID. My guess would be a button.
