Hi Kevin. To add my personal view - Firstly it's possible I've misinterpreted your reply, if so I apologise.KevinB wrote: Mon Apr 28, 2025 6:55 pm https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cy8qwpw1xjqo

If anyone digs or finds such a dangerous hazard on the beach (or anywhere else for that matter), they are already involved! By dealing responsibly with it rather than moving on, they would be complying with Police and Explosive Ordnance recommendations (The Detectorist's Code of Conduct) and potentially prevent the death or serious injury of some unfortunate more curious person or child. If you dig it up, you have a responsibility to report it, personally I wouldn't be digging any large ferrous target especially on the beach ![Laugh out loud [87/]](./images/smilies/87_EmoticonsHDcom.png)

I agree with you 100%. Should it be the case if I see something that needs appropriate action I would deal with it immediately in the correct manor. When I`ve got a hole two feet deep and know the object is large and have no visual contact for my own safty and anyone around me that is when I fill in and press on. Who knows?.......Kevin

Sure it`s called "common sense".
You would have to be pretty thick to do anything else.....
