question about old beach and land finds?

question about old beach and land finds?

hiya all just wondering what are the chances of finding old finds with any history to them on the beach? as av started beach detecting as i havent got any land permison yet but am more interested in the history side of the hobby i would love to find old coins and objects from the past times im a waisting my time looking for old items or coins out beach detecting...as i noticed its most modem finds that gets posted from the beaches any info would be gr8 thanks

your in a very good area for historic finds on land, as for the beach older finds are rare but you will often find victorian items, i have in the past done stretches of the coast by you and found medieval items on the exposed clay.

thanks barnacle i would really like to find some of the old victorian or medieval items i guess as im new i should just keep at it and test my luck:) till i can finally get permission on some land as like u was saying the grimsby and cleethropes area as got some good histroy dates back a long way

a detecting friend of mine lives in cleethorpes and is awlways saing about its a good area, he has also had a good amount of victorian rings off the local beaches,

thats really gd to hear as al be doing most my detecting at cleethorpes till i can get some permission on land witch i hope pretty soon:) ad love to find a victorian ring i will defo be heading out this week for a search

look forward to seeing what you find, i will mention to my friend that you are doing the beach, if he sees you i am sure he will pass on some great tips as he has done the beach for 20 yrs. when i have been i have always done within 100mtrs of the pier and tried to get the faint signals off the clay.

thanks that would be gr8 to get some tips from some one who knows so much about the hobby and also knows the area so well...im going to go out tomoz morning try get couple hours in befor all the heavy rain starts:( av not been done the pier end yet but will give it a try tomoz al post any of my finds up thanks again

I,ve found many old items on the beaches ,near me,as an e.g 14th century bronze seal ring,a hammered coin {the only one from a beach} 17th centuary tokens, george 3 shilling,but best of all a 1759 gold guinea,many more but it would take up too much space
