very interesting i was at the prestwood buckinghamshire one with a club i used to belong to not as the finders but still great to witness it coming out the ground god nows what the frome hoard must have been like unearthing i mean thats a lot of coins

Very interesting, but not comprehensive.
The hoard nearest to me is not listed for starters.
Good stuff though.

Very interesting but although the hoard I found is listed, (The Crundale Hoard ) it does not tell you that the hoard is in Canterbury Museum and not on display.

Thanks for the replies, there been 3 hoards within about a mile from me and none of them are listed one of the hoards was 872 silver celtic units found in a pot in 1982 by a farmer digging up a apple tree at the time the metal detectorist were called in to search the area and nothing else was found the site has now been built on.The archis said they had been hidden in a side of a settlement ditch around the time of the boudican revolt.The find is at the british museum some coins were on loan to the local museum.

Three hoards missing found in the 1990,s by my two cousins in differant locations. Llandrindod Wells Medieval and two in Herefordshire A Civil War and another Medieval Hoard.

What a crying shame that great finds end up in the vaults of a museum...never to see the light of day.....you had some lovely pieces there jim :)
If I was to live to over 300 years old , would I end up in a museum ?
