Ok this is what ive got so am i good to go on the beach?
c-scope cs440xd, garret pointer, headphones, trowl and beach permit. B-)
The other thing i would like to know is are any old coins not just sand blasted to flat disks? dosnt the salt water just rust them away? even gold and silver must wear down over time.
I have been an avid beach hunter for almost the last 20 year now. Two things matter : your equipment and your sense of observation.
If you restrict yourself to a limited number of productive beaches, you will in time develop the ability to spot good hunting places by eye, depending on the time of the year, tides, winds, streams, and storms.
Don't panic, it comes with the habit.
Now you've got yourself a good starting unit. Do not discriminate too much. Thin gold (which your detector is very capable to find) will fall at the limit between iron and foil. So, to start with, dig everything except small to medium-sized iron.
You can find old coins, but they are generally popping up where and when you do not expect them. So relax, let the detector beep, and dig.
