at last something good from leysdown beach

Post by cockneyred1970 »

so as you all know ive been going leysdown for a while now and other than millatary bullets etc not alot to talk about.i found my first old penny there last year 1907 which was a nice change from 303s 20mm 50cals found about 70 pence in assorted change now this. so last night thought were should i go looked up the low tide at ramsgate 5.00 am ouch no thank you so i thought leysdown at high tide still gives you plenty of beach and i just wanted to get out so this morning 7.30 off i go. get there 8.00 in a spot ive done before set the garret 250 all metal sensitivity to about half .so after ten minutes getting tones and digging nothing really couple of 303 casings i get a good tone on iron 5-6 "
i dig, run the 250 over the mound of sand its out then its the turn of the pro pointer finds it straight away i cant believe my eyes its a hammered off the beach lol the camara ive got is not to clever but here it is james 1silver sixpence 1604 wow

by the way for all you people that think the 250 no good on wet sand when i dug the said coin up i cleaned it in the same whole that had filled up with sea water .

Well found. You don't often hear of hammies coming off the beach. Just proves you never know what that next signal is going to be! ( probably shotgun cap on my sites tho!)

Cheers

Absolutely brilliant Jon. I should be coming out with you instead of the other way round. Looking forward to seeing it on Tuesday night. Cheers. Rob [:)

Just fab and so well deserved, what a lovely coin. Happy for you.
Its better out of the ground and in your hand for the history or monetary value rather than left in the ground to rot doing nothing for anyone.

Brilliant find, you thoroughly deserve it as well. Not too sure what you mean when you say the signal was iron 5-6 inches. Do you mean the 250 was indicating in the first two segments in both directions of the sweep for a silver hammered? If so that means that all those who use the 250 in coin or relic mode will never find a hammered (or like me who uses all metal all the time and rarely digs the iron signals) :(
Ace 250..now sold
Teknetics T2...now need a pro-pointer and bigger spade
