i have looked around, and i really don't know :-w

i would put that on UKDFD for sure, they have the books

my gut reaction would be post medieval, but if someone proved it to be a lot older, i would take there word for it without a doubt :)

I dont think it is a ring , but I am not sure what else it could be, except maybe a harness, or belt mount :)

just a couple of questions
is the end of the long piece finished or broken? and what size is the piece?
the throw of the long piece looks like it is the wrong shape for a finger ring

Its shape reminds me more of a Fob Seal, but I dont think its that either? :-w :-/

Although it may at first seem like a ring, I don't think that it is. It doesn't look as though it would fit comfortable on anyone's fingers, and even very old rings tend to be almost perfectly round. Could it be some sort of toggle? :)
