Hmmm ... still trying to decide if the larger coil will be worth the expense. Like many others I suppose, I have a lot of land coming up when ploughed, so maybe the added ground coverage will be worth the considerable spend? Liam

It's the ground coverage that makes all the difference to me Liam. Some of my sites are only available to me for a few weeks a year and every extra square metre I can cover in that time the better. If you have sites where targets are few and far between you'll up your finds rate considerably.
When you put the stock coil back on after using the biggy for a while you'll wonder how you ever managed any area at all....it's like cleaning your car with a cotton bud!!
Is it worth £350??? It is to me!!!!
Cheers,
Alex

Thanks Alex, I will keep an eye open for a bargain coil. I have a lot of land to go over that has never been detected on, but it is a very quiet collection of arable fields on a large estate, so I will want to cover as much as possible, Liam

What Marcus meant was reload the V2 software. Connect the control unit to the PC,and follow the online prompts.(instructions are in the manual)

Make sure all the batteries are charged up. Do a 'factory reset' on it.
Charge up the X-Terra batteries!

Try(page23 of the manual)Programme restore, and then check the right coil is highlighted.Another possible workround, try the VDU alone.(dont switch the headphones on)Glenfiddich wrote:I have tried this mate but nothing is happeninghammyman wrote:What Marcus meant was reload the V2 software. I fault find on electrical stuff all the time, I find a simple approach can save a lot of time.
First, buy a new battery/batteries as duff batteries cause a great proportion of faults.
Second, make sure you have tried your machine without your mobile in your pocket.
Third, make sure coil connections are clean and tight, take them out and plug them in and out several times to 'clean' the surfaces.
If there is a hard reset facility this may cure software gremlins.
Wear clothing made of natural fibre to exclude the possibility of a static charge causing the machines software to lock up.
Hopefully you can cure this problem yourself.
Good luck.

A flat coil battery will also bring up the 'no coil' warning

I suggested to Glen that he comes over to the hotel and we can check the charging and the connections, as my machine is working ok. Some very good avice there, thanks for that. Time has overtaken us and he is now watching this thread very carefully at home and hoping that by tomorrow we will have TWO Deus machines up and running, good luck Glen

I'd personally check that the two pins on the re-charging clip are not bent and are in contact with the coil when re-charging!

The boss here ...
(The wife would not agree!)
Might be a good idea to ring Nigel at 9am when he rolls in and get his advice before travelling over to the hotel. We will have a great time anyway, cold and icy as expected but as long as I am on land with a detector and can dig, then all is fine
Thanks for arranging your time around me being up here, much appreciated, you are a busy man!
See you later Glen and good luck with the Nigel advice, Liam

the batteries inside the Deus are Lithium batteries and are guaranteed for a two year period![]()
I have several other machines of different makes and this has sometimes happened before so usually it is the first thing that I check however with the Deus you only need to charge them up B-)
thank you for your comments though![]()

.Don't discount the potential for a faulty battery pack, new stuff goes wrong as well....
If your buddy has the same machine you should be able to confirm your pack(s) are ok by swapping with his. Hope you find the fault soon.
On a side issue, I have seen a few articles now about Deus problems, do they have more problems then other types of detector?
