Just remembered some beach tips.....

Post by markoneswift »

I read a while back that some of the best spots on beaches for detecting are around rock pools and also around the posts that support piers and break-waters. The theory is that many losses occur from people walking along the pier, leaning over the handrail etc etc and the stuff gathers in the pools around the support poles. A word of caution though, there's a lot of nasty stuff under piers including glass, contraceptives ( !! ) and needles ( !!!! ) so be careful..... I also read a lot about detecting gullies etc where water runs across the beach to the sea, especially where the sand has eroded down to the 'black stuff'. Hope this helps, I live a long way from the coast so don't get chance to put any of this into practise !
