What would you advise?

Post by Major Disaster »

I have long been a big fan of the old metal detecting, however i believe now is the right time to purchase a better valued one, but i am having trouble deciding.

i have a price range of £200-300 and have minimised it down to the following;

Garrett Euro Ace
or
CS3MX

i know the euroace has not been released yet and that its a matter of days, but if its frequency is just as good as the CS3MX which one should i purchase? :-/ :-/ :-/

I will be varying my searches as i will be going along the beaches, and old roman treks and roads, while also doing some fields, cliffs and cave areas.

Euro ace is better for the english soil i know but the CS3MX has been proven to be successfull.

Any kind of info to help me decide would be appreciated as it is payday very shortly for me =)) =))

If you have the time I would wait to see what the new Euroace has to offer :) and hopefully get reading a few un-biased reviews of people who actually have just purchased them :)
As for the Cscope 3mx, you never read any complaints or disappointments so its a definitely a top option within your budget :)

Still a tricky one to choose although i think im leaning towards the CS3MX. But does it work over wet sand by the beaches as well as fields?

are you only going to be using it on the beach?

If so you would be better off looking for a PI machine.

Sounds ok i suppose then :/ i will just have to try and avoid the wetsand especially during the winter :/. during the winter i will have to stick to the fields :(

I will be using it for quite some time in the future too, i live right on the coast by a holiday resort which promises to have loads of hidden goodies in the sand, while chichester is less than 5 miles away which was one of the first ever roman roads made in britain, with loads of local fields and woodlands. And next year i will be moving back to my hometown hastings (1066) which i will be searching in caves, bigger fields as well as woods and forests... so the cs3mx came to my attention, unless is there anything better for a budget of up to £300? :-/ any responses are great because i will be making my first purchase in the coming days i hope :)

Just realised i also need 20 posts before i am allowed to post on the wanted or for sale section of the boards :-O :-O :-O not good... lol

best valued i can find at the moment; http://www.subtech.co.uk/cs3mx-p-43.html :/

I just realised that myself :s lol after a little more nosing around i came across this being the cheapest for now http://www.eurocosm.com/Application/Pro ... .asp?c=gbp

with; Deluxe Headphones, Polo Head Cover, Carrying Bag and the CS3MX for £255.50 inc delivery. which is not too bad :) i will buy a foot trowel from my local diy shop for a fiver :)

in response to Kmarsh; i looked at the Minelab x-terra 30 but it looks like on the fields and dry sand it doesnt compete with the CS3MX, except for on the wetsand :(

why not have a look at the seconhand market.
There are some very good detectors around for the money you have to spend and you may get quite a bit more for your money.
