Small Green Bottle ID, Please

Post by SnifferDog »

In between detecting, I am doing some bottle digging..

I discovered this yesterday and am looking for some info from the experts on here..
I have lost my camera charger so took these poor photos using my phone..

It is about 3 inches tall, with a glass stopper (currently stuck). "English Made" on the bottom and "Made in England" on the side. It has a number on the side "No 4172 S3".

The seam runs up both sides but stops at the neck.

I will post a better photo, once my camera is operational.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Difficult to say, but not of any value. The numbers don't mean anything, could be a makers mark but unusual not to be on the base. The fact it's got 'Made in England' on it means is post 1891 but it's likely to be pre-1930s if it's got an applied lip (applied by hand as the mold seam stops short of the lip).

With a ground glass stopper it's likely to be medical / pharmaceutical or possibly scent, but the latter is unlikely as they tend to be more decorative.

Best I can do, I'm afraid ::g

Thanks for the feedback. Apparently it's a smelling salts bottle circa 1910's.

Probably of no value, but a very tactile piece, I can't stop holding it.
