ring id please

Post by deanothehunter »

hi all i was rained out today so could,nt get out and about but instead cleaned detector off from last outing was only dust but usually i give whole thing a wash down not the control box though obviously :)) then started staring at my recent and old finds from a while ago found this ring few years ago its gold in colour but not in material :( i thought it was when found but after a clean up further today it seems to have cold cast on inside surface, at first thought it was a hall mark...no such luck it has 4 small holes and 3 larger ones where once would of been stones/diamonds all since fell out before i found it, it looked really old at first but now i think its quite modern ?

no there is no hall mark its just some very worn faint writing saying cold cast as you can just make out in pic at the bottom of ring which incidently is split no other markings or writing at all...sorry poor pic but its from mobile phone :)

Hi, Deano. Something that has normally been 'cold cast' usually means that its 'poor mans' bronze, a mix of resin and bronze powder. Hope this helps. :)
Will I? Won't I? What kind of silly question is that?

Now that's what I call rear tough luck. I found a child's ring a few years back, made of copper with four squares on it to look like stones. It was all scrunched up, but i liked it because I found it. Sad thing is that I lost it again, but goodness knows where. B|
