Metal detecting beaches

Post by metal detector »

Hi everyone :)

I am going on holiday soon with my friend to Isle of Wight and was wondering about metal detecting the local beach as we are staying near one.

The beaches i would want to detect are Ryde/Sea view. I have looked on the Crown Estate website about which beaches i can detect on. However i am still unsure.

If anyone could help me find out if either:

- I can MD freely without a permit
- Need a permit
-Or can't metal detect at all

Im only considering detecting Ryde and Seaview.

Many thanks

Dan

Have fun detecting :D

I hear tell that the Isle of White is a good place for finding fossils.

hi chris :)

I have an interest in fossils..

But will the MD also give signals for fossils?

Do fossils contain metalic substances?

Many thanks

As far as I know, the detector will not detect fossils. Whilst swinging your arm and listening for the bleeps; just keep an eye open for odd shaped bibs n bobs turning up in front of you. A little research may point you to the best place for finding fossils.
