Wet or dry sand which is best
Hi all just a thought I've got some time of from work and am going to give the local beaches a go Bournemouth beach etc I was wondering if it's best to concentrate on the wet sand as surely that would be where the jewellery is people don't generally take cash into the sea but do still ware there jewellery when swimming I should hopefully miss out on a lot of the junk too I notice the tide down here doesn't come in to far so is the wet sand the best place to go I'll be using the sovereign gt

I like the top myself my mate likes the wet he won't do the dry he find some nice gold rings but i find lots of modern coins plus the odd ring.Have been out today on the beach did the dry sand found 48 modern coins 6 were pound coins one dog whistle and a rose gold pendent in the shape of a hart.So if you have a machine that can work the wet give it a go but you need a PI and a strong back on the wet.

The sov is ok on the wet not as deep as a PI but better if you don't like digging the crap to get at the gold.

In the water
Then the wet then dry
I see people all the time detecting the beach but I
have never seen any one follow me in to the water.
Its all mine and most places untouched.
All said thou have had gold and platinum from all places on the beach.
The kit

and my best day in the water

Excalibur did not seem to badly priced after sweeping up that lot

Hi Steve,
I normally make the most of the Sovereign GT too by sticking to the wet sand but a good stainless steel or aluminium scoop is a must as the sand does keep collapsing in making it quite difficult to retrieve the finds. I have got into the way of doing it now but it does take practice and doesn't half leave you like the incredible hulk after a while!
Thats a nice setup you have Chipmonky with the Excal, is that a Stealth Sunspot scoop you've got there? 8 or 10 inch? I hear they are a killer in the surf for getting at the targets fast! Is there anywhere in the UK that supplies the Stealth sccops? I had seen you could get them shipped from the US but thought that the postage would work out too expensive.
Cheers

totally agree with everyone else regarding, low tide and wet sand for the best finds. but i have to admit i just like finding stuff, so later in the day i go onto the dry sand at the top of the beach to do some coin shooting.
