detecting again at last!

Post by onlyonegazza »

i have been to my local beach for the first time in around 2 months, bliss to forget about the sheep.
anyway it was pishing down and i'd allready found a bit of new coinage, around 4 quid. the beach was empty, tide right down and i could go where i wanted, perfect.
so off i go to try a place by some timber piers that i havn't done before, detecting away, then booong a massive fraitrain signal. hardly any pulltabs down by the water line, so i thought yeeees. nice old coin, bit of jewelry or even the gold ring that i haven't found yet.
the old long handled sand scoop was going into overdrive now,6,7,8 scoops, this is looking better all the time. all of a sudden a small glint of gold in the bottom of the hole, it's a gold ring i think to myself, one more scoop, i'm shaking the sand out and whats gleaming in the bottom of the scoop X:), someones 2 inch brass front door key, man i was deflated.
to top it all off, i started talking to an new zealand couple when i'd been walking back to the van, the woman asked me how it was going, so i told her the story and i couldn't believe what she then said to me.
"it's a pity i didn't know you were after jewelery, back home i chuck my old jewelery into the sea, you could of had it instead"
that was like mike tyson hitting me in the solar plexes with a haymaker b;>
i walked back to the van, poured myself a crappy cup of tea and burst out laughing, i think the people walking past thought i'd gone potty.
from the depths of despair, to wierd woman talking, to all out laughing and enjoyment and i'm sure i't could only happen in metal detecting.
it's good to be back :D
