Minelab Pro-Find 25 pinpointer
For those of you not aware, Minelab have been targeting a release date of April for their new pinpointer, and US dealers are now taking advance orders, Based on the US price of 169 dollars, it looks like it's price will be comparable to the Garrett Pro-pointer, if not more expensive, here in the UK. I've just compared the price of other Minelab items in the US and in the UK, and my best guess is it will sell for £99 here.
In the US, the Garrett Pro-pointer sells for 145 - 150 dollars, ie. 20 -25 dollars less than the Minelab.
Here's a Minelab publicity photo. Couldn't help notice the model is wearing a watch, maybe a finger ring, too?:

with so many people already using the garrett i cant see it being a big seller.

One pound coins for 2012 so far = 180! 2013 =6
It would have to equal the Garret on performance and beat it on price to make a go of it.
I'd say the Garret was the bench mark it has to beat and at that price it won't.
Damned expensive things for what they do.

One interesting thing I noticed whilst doing UK/US price comparisons, is how cheap(!) the Garrett pro-pointer is in the UK. Normally, US made goods sell at a noticeably higher price here, you can pretty much change the dollar sign to a pound sign. That would make the 150 dollar pro-pointer sell for £150 here. Some serious discounting is going on, I think.
i need to get a new pin pointer and was hanging to see what the minelab would be like
but as usual the seem to want a lot of profit over competing with garrett
so will have to get a garrett now instead

Was there just now. And yes, it works out at around £105. So still making the PP a better buy. Even if I wanted one, which I don't. I would rather hear some reviews etc before stumping up big bucks for it.johny-blaze wrote:the listing has been removed for some reason but it works out at £105
I think Garrett have already stolen the march on this one.

In the Zone with the Garrett carrot!

It seems there is some delay in the launch, I got this from a US forum:
"Don at "North GA Relics" asked about the ProFind when he went to the dealer shindig they had for the training and revealing of the CTX3030 detector, and Minelab told him "sometime this year"."
Maybe the CTX is keeping them busy?

It appears to be close to release, as it is now featured on Minelab's website.
It is described as 'water-resistant', so similar to the Garrett.

I have the Garrett and to be honest it does exactly what it claims, i cant see that another make can improve on what already does the job.
The only thing I would say is that the Garrett needs a small redesign to include a fixing for lanyard attachment and waterproof covering for the speaker hole.

ironhartedgog got the price from Joan Allan today and it is 125.
it does have some improvements over the garret....like you can turn the sound off which isn't much use to us but in an American park you might be quire glad of, also it wont interfere with your detector which will be really nice especially if your using a T2, GPX or any of the other detectors that the Garrett interferes with even when its off!
also if you leave it in the field after 8 minutes it starts to beep really load so you can find it that would have saved me £90 when my mate dropped mine in the field......never to be seen again
my Garrett's almost dead after a year and my mates hasn't worked a hundred percent since day 1, so i may well buy one.......whats another mortgage? lol
