I am going to hazard a guess at why they havent responded...
The original thread you mentioned started out by saying the machine was not set up for UK soil conditions.
As the thread progressed it became clear that it wasnt so much that the machine wasnt set for UK soil, it was more the fact that the machine did not have a manual ground balance option that the machine user could change himself to suit the field he was in.

To be honest the difference although important is probably not as much as people presume.

The ony real problem with a machine that is not ground balanced correctly is that the mineralisation "could" mask some good targets, and you may lose some valuable depth

You have to keep in mind that the 250 is an entry level machine, albeit a decent one that can hunt with the best of them....

Technicaly its not a manufacturing issue, more of a "this is how much we can sell it for with the amount of technology we have included.
To add a manual ground balance option would increase the price.

Ground balancing, masking, mineralisation, blinding, all become very technical aspects to the hobby, and as time passes and your interest is sparked then you start reading and learning the pros and cons of these extra things...

Ultimately the 250 is a perfectly capable machine for hunting anywhere in the world, but as in most hobbys you will always strive for more and should be included in your thought process should you upgrade one day.....

My Garrett experience.

Bought AT Pro and had a problem - unit tested and swapped without any problem (UK distributor and dealer = tick)

Had a geeky question about set-up and ground balance - sent an email to Garrett direct - half expecting no answer - they replied next day (Garrett = tick).

So my experience has been good.

On the subject of possible email rejected I have a paid account as opposed to hotmail etc...our works system, wont even talk to hotmail and the likes - security and junk mail risk i suspect.
CTX 3030 and Garrett Pro-Pointer. Garrett ACE 250 and AT PRO as spare.
