Looking for a buddy in Leeds

Hi I'm looking for a buddy in Leeds. I've been detecting for about a year now but I'm fast running out of areas to detect in.
I’ve tried to join the local club but I think I've more chance of becoming the pope.
I don't have any permissions as yet but working as a pair we might have more luck.
Lots of farms, pastures and woodland round here but unfortunately I think the romans bypassed this part of Leeds.
Still I'm sure there are lots of goodies to be found.

Hi rob9000 i to am from leeds and looking for a bud to detect with Leeds is a bit of a no go area as Leeds City council have banned metal detecting on their land. So its private land only. I have one section of land sorted but owner has cows and bulls on it at mo so looking for other areas.But would be up for a run to seaside i have a car if you dont. Maybe there are more lone detectorists out there in rainey Leeds who would want to get together maybe start our own club? i would be interested in your views.

Hi David, Thanks for the reply.
There is defiantly a lack of clubs in the area, I have one on my doorstep but getting a membership is nigh on impossible.
So where a bouts in this fine city of ours are you from? I'm up in Rawdon.
I had a trip to Scarborough last year, was on the beach for about 5 hours and didn't quit find enough to cover the parking cost, but its not the winning its the taking part.
Could be up for a trip to the east coast again over the next couple of weeks. Brid might be a better option.

Thanks for a reply I live in ls14 bit of a distance between us but that dont bother me.
If your interested I would like to meet up somewhere for a chat or even a pint?
we could try and get some land together take it you have transport so lots to go at round leeds and surrounding areas im a members of NCMD so have my public liability cover and Crown Estate permit for the beech.
Whats your thoughts on starting a club?

Your not too far away, about a 20 minute drive (yes i have a car)
Yes we could meet up if you like, we could compare detectors.
I'm a bit busy at the mo the best i can do is the back end of next week if that's
any good to you.
I'm in the process of joining the F.I.D just need to get some mug shots.
I have a Crown Estate permit somewhere .
As for starting a club.... I wouldn't have a clue how to go about it.
Its a good idea this is a fast growing hobby. But I think it could eat up
a lot of precious free time.
