Having just got what I reckon to be a privileged 1st permission, I really do want to make a concerted effort to pull as much out as I can to benefit the estate owners and myself.
I have my doubts that my Maplins 64 quidder will do the job justice.
I wasn't reckoning on getting a permission like that for some time and was happy to get used to the little machine without spending further.
Money is not in abundance at the moment and having just spent£64 at Maplins, I really only have £150 to spend now, as I have so many hobbies and interests that wish to swallow my money as well.(even a knackered pair of weber DCOE's takes 200 quid off me) before I've spent on em.
I'm kind of wondering if I might find a 2nd hand euroace for that money or am I being over optimistic? I've read many reports on the machine, but am I on the money or do I need to set my sights lower? Ta.

After going out with my mate he has a garrett ace 150 good little detectors in my eyes he gets good stuff pick them up cheap enough
Hi,
There is very little chance of getting a used euroace for £150 as they seem to go for around £200, your £150 will get you a used ace 250 which is still a very good detector.

Yes, I guessed that maybe the answer. I believe the 250 is a good tried and tested machine. I'm off to read up on their performance. It's depth capability I'm primarily interested in.

For £150, as said, the ACE 250 second-hand will be hard to beat. They hold their price well, so look on Preloved/ Gumtree too... as well as on Ebay. Ebay prices can be very inflated at times!
Not the deepest machine (but about as good as any machine for that type of money really) but a really good machine to just switch on and fine stuff.
You want the really deep finds, your talking quite a bit more money and a sharper learning curve.

Funnily enough the little Maplins 64quidder found 2 x£1 coins in different places and these were a good 5 or 6 inches in the soil down under a gravel car park. I'm actually quite impressed with the little fighter for pulling out quite deep coins, so will keep it, but a larger machine is on the cards as I have just started this permission which is going to take me AGES! as much is undergrowth and stuff. I'm looking forward to eventually getting down to the river part where the ford was.
