ooops mistook this for a penny

Post by doug1973 »

Well while detecting on the beach on sunday i found 3 pound coins and a penny all together.

my wife wanted to have a go at cleaning a coin so i took the pound coins and the penny out.

handed it to her and said have a go at cleaning this penny then.

she examined it a bit a said thats not a penny but i cant read it.

so i scanned it to find it was a 1924 farthing?

1. what on earth was it doing mixed in with pound coins. :-/
2.i know my eyes are bad but fancy missing that. :-O
3.all you beach hunters check your penny carefully :D

One of life's little mysterys, I have dug an old coin only to have another good signal in the same hole, thinking I had a coin spill only for it to be a bit of rubbish :)
