Cornwall licence

Post by corky »

Lots of talk on previous threads about the pros and cons of having to have a license to detect on Cornish beaches. Has anybody actually bought a license (12months or 2weeks) and how easy was it to get one?

No because as said earlier it only covers you on duchy run beaches.
I have yet to visit any beach in Cornwall run by them.
Nearly every good beach is council or other owned.
I tried for a bit and gave up because every beach I asked about they said
had nothing to do with them.
If your really bothered try and find the beach warden and ask for permission.
I love the licensing because it keeps the competition of the beaches ::g
Just be sensible try and hunt when not crowded and fill your holes.
I hunt loads of beaches 3-5 times a week and never once been asked to leave.
Ill chat with the early bird council people speak to the police some times if its late at
night never no problems.
Just to be on the safe side thou you should leave your detector at home and
just enjoy the beauty of Cornwall ;)

Yes same here i have been on the beaches since 1960 and have never been told i can't detect have spoken the cops council workers beach cleaners you name it but as i say no probs.Just use your head and don't upset people who are on the beach like i have seen nurds detecting around people laying down on the sands.Go in the early morning or at night or bad weather days.Fill all your holes take home or to the bins the rubbish you dig up.Don't put any sharps in the bins take away and get rids of them. One beach i do is full of sharps told the the guy who picks up the litter and he has told his bose. Now they Cary a sharps bin on the lorry to put the crap in. ::g

Its better out of the ground and in your hand for the history or monetary value rather than left in the ground to rot doing nothing for anyone.

X fingers it shows itself next week then.
I'm hoping to have a bit of room to smuggle the Euroace in the boot when we go down to Fowey \:D/

Hi I'm heading to Porth soon for a couple of weeks, where I think the beach is under the control of Restormel Borough Council. Detected it for years without any problems.

I seem to remember that there used to be a pdf document of the beaches controlled by the Duchy and where you could and couldn't detect, anyone got a link to it?
