Just back from Margate beach, not a single coin today, that is unusual, however there was evidence of some detecting last night,ie holes everywhere,with bottle tops, cans near them, (I picked up the pull tabs, left cans for beach cleaners) This past weekend Margates been heaving, so I guess best time is as soon after the hoards leave and you can get down there. I prefer earl mornings,but clearly it didn't work for me today.:(

lots of beaches, bays here in Thanet I don't do the beach much now but used to a lot mainly on the wet sand low tide had loads of rings in the past.look for gullies where the sand has been washed away by the tide also try and get down there in the day and observe where most of the swimmers are thats where you will find the resent losses.as for the dry sand its just a case of luck.hope this helps good luck ::g

Me and hubby have tried Minnis Bay and Westbay - once each - big grand total of 60p.

Has anyone had any abuse on the beaches in Thanet - hubby is convinced that someone will have a go at us and as we usually have the kids with us, he doesnt want them hearing any abuse!!!

Also has anyone found anything interesting on the Thanet beaches apart from modern day coinage and rubbish?

Thanks ::g

Think I may have to get a PI and do some wet sand, just the thought of all that digging really puts me off :( I had an hour or so on Botany Bay this morning, nearly as quiet (signal wise) as Joss Bay.

How many bays has margate got .. :-O .Minnis bay ..Palm bay....Botany Bay...Joss Bay ...West Bay..... seems like its got too many ....as the sun worshpers will be diluted over that many :))
If I was to live to over 300 years old , would I end up in a museum ?

I searched Margate beach at the lowest tide of the year about 5 am when the beach was covered in ice i followed the tide out and found 5 gold rings in 1 hour with a c scope 770d but i think you will struggle now as a lot of detectorists search there , a few years ago i was on the beach searching when i was asked to stop detecting by a man who said he was from the council i replied that you can build sand castles ,play ball so i will carry on detecting so he replied that he would get the police to remove me i said go and get them then that was the last i saw of him i believe he was a local man who wanted the beach for himself. 98;

Had a word with a detectorst on one of the bays and he said be don't do margate anymore cos
of the detectorists that were already there giving him a hard time.
Going to botany bay tonight. Just back from epple bay, omg, soooo much crap there.
