Pebble beachs

Post by janner53 »

Hi ::g , Has anyone here ever detected on a pebbled beach, like pebbles the size of donuts, even bigger, and if so, how did you get on.

Am just trying to imagine if you get a signal on a beach like this. You won't be able to use a spade or sifter, have to pick the pebbles off one by one..... think I'll stick to sand and shingle.

ive tried this and you will find it hard work. you have to remove the stones by hand so wear some good gloves. flints can be razor sharp. also if its a coin under there you will be chasing it as it drops between the stones. without a pro pointer you will be there a very long time. i gave up after chasing ring pulls for 20 minuites each. ;;z
One pound coins for 2012 so far = 180! 2013 =6

wow nonmotion, that does sound like frustrating work. As you described it i can imagine the coin sinking deeper and deeper between the pebbles.

Yup, not a good idea is it.

Easy way to avoid that problem - dig a hole 2ft deep alongside the target and then tunnel under and come up underneath it. With luck it'll drop straight into your hand =))

I do a lot of pebble beach work, Infact it's where I found my first ring, the trick is to avoid areas where the pebbles are several feet deep, most beaches will have a top covering and inches underneath you hit gravel, just do a test dig to see what your working with first.

As most people avoid these spots you may find older items.
Minelab CTX 3030 6" Coil.
Garrett Pro Pointer.
Makro Pro Pointer.
Stainless Steel Digging Tool.
Stainless Steel Sand Scoop.
Minelab Deluxe BackPack.

i had the same as you regarding my first ring find on a pebble beach. its hard work, but the finds are there because a lot of people cant be botherd to move the stones.
the only trouble i've found is the finds are knocked about a bit, but thats life.
