bullet help

Post by dolph »

Hi all
Just been going through my trash finds and I found the remains of a bullet casing. The bullet has not been fired as there is no pin mark on the end but the round has gone and so to the explosive material. On the end of the casing reads as follows :- eej (it is in small case) 41 15 S*
Any one got any suggestions to what rifle it was used for and approx age, what im trying to find out is it WW2 era

hope you all can help
thanks Dolph

Think the 41 marks it as 1941 perhaps?

Hi there, you said that the bullet hasnt been struck? if what you are saying is true it could possibly still have a live primer in it. I too have found rounds with un-struck primers and i find the best way to get around them is to pierce a small hole near the bottom of the casing(its the only way to get around the law as they say that you could fill it up with gunpowder and insert a bullet in the end, so by piercing a hole near the bottom of the casing it would become legal.)

Hope this helps,
Will
