I know the area quite well. The beach may turn some stuff up but the mud flats are likely to be pretty baron! Good luck with that! :D

Hello mate. I was out on a fishing boat from Wells harbour last Saturday and the beach was heaving (standing room only) :)

If you don't know Wells you need to get up to the beach just beyond the life boat station. Its right on the corner where the estuary meets the sea and has about 50 beach huts on stilts at the back.

There were alot of people in the water but beware the tide rips in and out at a fair old lick this time of year but most people were gathered on the corner of the beach in front of the huts ::g

Good luck!! B-)

Unfortunately metal detecting is banned at Wells Next to Sea, also Holkham aswell (unless things have changed very recently), there have been a few threads on this in the past, the long and short of it is that the Crown Estates lease the land out to English Nature so it is not covered by the CE permits, and the Holkham estate (Holkham Bay) is private with an out right ban on detecting
