Hi,
Will be visiting the region of Ceredignion in Wales shortly and wondered if anyone local knows if you can detect (permission wise) any of the beaches there, have e-mailed the local council twice but no response at all?
Staying near Gwybert, just outside Cardigan when there.
Thanks
Mark

I have been detecting all around the cardigan Bay area with no problems just download a free permit from the site its under the heading metal detecting permission check the tide times , i may see you on the beach as i live at Tanygroes and its only 1 mile from Aberporth beach good luck . Topcat

Hi Topcat
Assume your referring to a crown estates permit, have one of thiose and have checked and most of the coast is Crown estate but was checking with council for permission to see about doing the dry sand.
Staying at Gwybert so will be around that area as mentioned so if you see another detectorist week commencing 17th Sept say hallo it may be me! Will keep badgerng the council and if I do get a response will let you know the outcome.
Unless anyone else on here already done this?

No permission needed here in Aberystwyth (other then crown estates), im often down on the town beach clearing all the pull rings and bottle tops...Technically your supposed to stay below the high water mark but never had a problem on the upper beaches... There are a lot of ssi areas to be aware of but as long as you detect on the beach and don't stray into the sand dunes or damage the petrified forests there should be no problems..
