Gold Stater from the water

Post by oliver »

Hi this is one of the Iron Age Staters that i have found whilst water searching on ancient sites thay come out in very good condition if they have been kept away from the ploughing and digging give it try on one of your good sites if a river or stream runs through it. ::g Stater show is a Durotriges Silver Stater White Gold type Mid 1st century BC to Mid 1st century AD. ::g

Lovely Coin I really really want one too. :D
Its better out of the ground and in your hand for the history or monetary value rather than left in the ground to rot doing nothing for anyone.

Nice coin oliver, I must give it a try. Did you shovel some stream bed into a sieve, or just use your detector. :-/

I have a floating sieve but some times i use my big beach scoop depends on the type of river bed.
