Only when I see people I went to school with. Happened once :-)

Also not a fan of the chavs who want to know how many gold rings I've found today, because they know I've found loads, because the videos on youtube say so :-)

I actually can empathise with how you feel there,i remember the first few times i was down on a busy beach i just thought wow everyone must think i'm such a sad .... you know what. But then i'd stick my head down and get so into what my detector was doing that i stopped caring. At the end of the day i think most people are more interested than anything else and i think all the blokes watching are just envious cause they'd really like to have a go! All my mates laughed and took the micky when i first bought my detector then after a few weeks i found a nice gold coin which i sold to a collector for £200 then a few weeks after that i found two 18k gold rings which i sold for £250 and upgraded my kit.Now my mates are asking if they can come out detecting with me and i laugh at them!

Well I not been to the beach yet, but this is exactly what I fear and putting me of going lol. I am thinking i will perhaps go very early in the morning when they will be nobody around for a bit or later on in the evening, at least till i get some experience and hopefully find a few things.
