i dont want to burst anyone's bubble here, but my at pro is not good on wet sand.
its full time going off on hot rocks and falsing. iv'e tried everything, the sensitivity has to be so low to work your losing depth and your lucky to get 15 ground balance. i have tried ground balancing the rocks out, but to no avail and i was a bit dissapointed ![]() i would not use it on wet sand again, and my minelab gt made it look silly on the wet stuff. that was the bad news! but the good news, dryer sand excellent performance and great discrimination on the machine. the best part though is detecting in water, it was a revalation to me. i did a small inlet by the beach where it met salt water and the coins i found were everywhere. great sounds with the good headphones and ground balance was up to 85, 90 with full senceitivity so very good depth ![]() so my review, wet sand no, everything else brilliant ![]()
Looks like it worked for you Ferret.........good stuff

i'm not dissing any other peoples findings about the machine, its just my honest opinion of what its like on wet sand. its quite an expensive machine to buy for a begginer and i found it falses a lot on wet sand.
i use a minelab gt, and quattro on beaches and i have no falsing problems with them! my misses bought me an at pro for my 40th birthday[which was brill] and iv'e been using it for the last month on my local beaches against the gt and quattro, i actually went over a wet beach with the at pro and found nothing but falsing and hot rocks, then i redid the same path with the gt and found a few coins and no falsing at all. it wont touch the minelabs on wet sand and thats a fact. i think the at pro is brill on everything else, its well made, waterproof and i enjoy using it, but not on wet sand ![]() Its seems its getting a real mixed reaction on the wet like above ferrett as dug loads coins at really good depth in the wet sand and says it was stable and worked really well then we get others that say different! That its no good? I don't get how it can be good for some but not others maby ppl are setting it up for the wet sand wrong I'm hitting the beach on thursday and will be going on the wet sand so will post my results up on this thread I'm a new user only been out once today on land and loved it so my first beach hunt will give u all a good idea from some who is using it on the wet for the very first time

i hope i'm wrong uklad and my misses spent a lot of money on it for me, so i want it to be good.
![]() there's a saying say it as you see it and thats what iv'e done. iv'e tried every setting possible to stabalize it with good depth and been honest in the results. i believe some people can naturally read beaches better than others and could find goodies with a pointy stick, and thats what the ferret is, a natural beach detectorist, so i hope no one has took this the wrong way ![]() i'lll try it on other beaches to see if the sand is more mineralized on my beaches than others to make sure, and also do a long term test on utube with all three detectors to show i'm not telling porkies ![]()
i will try that and see if there's a difference
![]() I will test it out for myself on Thursday I think the best way to see how it performs is to test it myself on the wet salty beach local to me av watched many videos of ppl detecting the wet sand with the at pro and seem to be doing fine even the Garrett vofficial video shows it working unstable then after manual ground balancing was perfectly quiet so will see

this is a good depth test of at pro, minelab and fisher detectors on dry sand.
