Hi All ::g,

Oliver and Slippery, was great to meet you two guys in person last night. Always good to put faces to names. It was a pleasure to detect alongside two professional looking detectorists, what with your machines, headlights, scoops, etc. I was really pleased you both struck gold.
I managed to fish out a total of £2.26 up on the dry sand, but the knowledge and experience I gained last night far outweighed any gold ring.
Finding those modern 5ps and 1ps in the pitch black you'd think i was finding gold rings every time if you could have seen me do the midnight happy sand dance =)) .

I now know how different beaches can effect a machine. Before last night i had detected three other beaches here on the south coast and had no problem with my Ace 250 on the wet sand, last night on that north coast beach my machine went mento soon as i stepped onto the wet sand.
Said to my missus today after last night you really need the proper gear to do the job.

All in all a brill night, really enjoyed it ::g.

Ahhhhhhh, Mudlarking I have heard of. That too sounds a good hobby, walking the mud and scanning your eyes for objects such as canonballs, bottles etc.
There's no end to this history hunting is there :D ::g
