beach detecting this week.

Any tips on skegness beach as i have not been on any beach before what should i be looking for,i have the excallibur machine,are there any better beaches near by thanks steve.

50 views no reply whats the point are people really that selfish or idle not to reply, i think there must be 1 person out of 50 who could reply i think i will not be putting on any more post i am not giving up my time for people who only want to read posts.

Well.....that is certainly one way to win friends and influence people.

You have 50 views because your thread appears in the new threads list and people trawl through them. Perhaps if you gave it a little time instead of chucking your toys out the pram you would get a reply. You will undoubtedly notice the hundreds and THOUSANDS of replies given to threads with people trying to help the thread starter. It just takes time on some occasions.

Hey Stephen, maybe you could try changing the title of your post to "detecting skegness beach" or something like that, might attract people who can help you better that way

Never been to Skegness so cannot comment on what the beaches are like,you have the right detector and i guess you have a sand scoop as a normal spade can be used but is not the best digging tool for beaches.

The have to try and think the most popular spots on the beaches that people would use its not rocket science really but say near the location of stalls like icecream vans and as near as possible to the big attractions like the pier and steps,people tend to loose change and other items at the top of the beach after changing clothes and the like but the main area for the decent items i would have thought must be on the main water line as people tend to swim or play with kids and as the skinny shrinks on people's finger due to the water that is when they would loose rings and other forms of jewellery.

Many books have been written about beach detecting over the years so to condense it down into a few lines is some what difficult but walk onto the beach and then take a look around and try and think what part of the beach that you would like to use,once you have come up with some ideas those are the locations on the beach that you want to hunt.

The 1st time of doing something new is always a learning curve but humans in theory are a creature of habit and they will go to the best parts of the beach and also water does shrink your skin so while granny is playing with the kids in the surf with the beach ball that is the time she will loose the lump of ice of her finger and that is what you are after.

i was planing to go to bournemouth next couple of weeks, but i dont know, but always try sandy beaches, ate the best, stony ones, are just hard to dig.

Well I did read your post, unfortunately I live in Margate so cannot comment on your local beach, maybe some of the 50 views were also from far away.

Never been to Skegness and dont know the area so cant comment on that but since you've got the Excalibur i suggest getting in the water,as long as you've got a decent sand scoop that is.

Ive got to agree with neverwantedtodance, change your title the reason you have probaly had so many views & no reply was because nobody new which beach until they started reading your post

I was one of the 50, but I'm in Suffolk and know nothing about Skegness beach. I do have to add that because 50 people read it but you didn't get a reply was because no one knew.
I don't think it was of benefit to anyone, you going into a sulk because no one knew. Thats not the way forward.

Happy times with sandcastles and paddling and whatnot as a Kid at skegness, But alas skegs a Chav town now and the beach finds will reflect this.

been and done it a few times when visiting family, and never had owt old or valuable, did find a sov ring that turned out to be fake, same as a Best dad Bracelett.

found a fair bit of modern coinage, and lead weight's, but that's been it.
