Do i need permission to metal detecting on herne bay beach?

hey guys, i am planning to go to herne bay beach and bournemouth, do i need any permission to metal detect there?anything from the crown state?

You only need to apply online for a permit...

Herne Bay beach needs permission from Canterbury City Council but either side at Whitstable and Reculver is Crown Foreshore which requires a permit(downloaded free from their website).
