Beach Detecting At Its Very Best - Gold Silver And Rare Coin

Post by fishy »

I keep thinking it cant get any better. A few more holes later and it just does not seem to stop.

This is from 3 sessions around 12 hours in total. Safari maxed out in all metal.

Crusty coins before cleaning. Some are so crusty its impossible to see what's underneath.

Found another pocket knife in a large black lump.
Turned out just a plain one this time.

Still works just fine.

Spot the spelling mistake, would be worth a few quid if it was in better condition.

Coins cleaned up.
Did this as part of a video im working on.

Quite a rare error coin, especially here in the UK, I recall reading that most were sent abroad, Malta? Cyprus? not sure. Well found.
Edit: found this about the die 6 error on a coiny forum:
"The whole mintage (of 10188) with the wrong inscription was sent to Cyprus. Of these, 6160 were returned to London when the error was discovered"

Hi Fishy,
I have just found a badly corroded 1938 halfpenny on the beach, tried everything to get it clean, at the end of the day I put it in a saucer and put some Vinegar on it, the kings head on the front and the ship on the back are now nice and clear,
( It works on fish and chips as well,) :)) :))
