Car charging

Post by liamnolan »

I have always charged up the coil, headphones and control box when needed, in the garage after returning from detecting. No probs with that but this week I decided to unpack the car charging fittings and use that instead. I place the trio into a plastic shopping bag (best quality Waitrose) and then just leave them plugged in whilst I drive around. The plastic bag also helps to keep the car carpet clean when the coil is muddy.
Can anyone tell me what the difference in charging time between the car charger and the wall socket? I managed to get it fully charged today on the way to a permission about 17 miles away.
The car charging system does seem a lot easier ::g

you have a lot more current from a car charger, as apposed to the wall charger type, the
latter being better for battery life. ::g

Be careful of car chargers, it will supply what ever current the device wants, we do them at work for satellite finder meters and we find within a year or two they reck the battery's, the mains chargers are much better for avoiding this

.... & I have been using one of these for the last 4 months, no problems!!!! |To be fair, as long as you supply 5V to the lead, the coil/control unit/headset should draw what they need automatically,.....
