Hi Zxadi

I've never found much with mine on the beach either. You've probably found more than I ever found in total from the beach.

Bear in mind though that you need to know where to look.

I can't remember the link but do a search on beach detecting and there's a big PDF online.

You also (as already discussed) are better with another machine on the beach.

If you can, take it on land. It's a good little machine, especially for the price.

I think its simpler though.

Most people wont post how bad a day they've had detecting, on the beach or anywhere else.

So.... you get a very lopsided view of how "easy" detecting is looking at forums and in the mags.

If on a single day every person that went detecting HAD to post up what they found (or to the point, didnt find) I bet you would get a very different perspective of the hobby. Ive often wondered that on an individual day if you could work out how many good finds were made opposed to the combined hours of thousands of detectorists searching, what the hours per find ratio would be? Pretty huge I should imagine.

Just keep swinging the coil and digging the holes and eventually every dog does indeed have his or her day. ::g
Thats the point most people dont understand, I live at the coast, and apart from the fact its been a very slow poor season due to the weather. Beachs get hammered to death all summer sometimes up to 20 on a summer evening here. I put a lot of hours in during winter and a lot of days go home with 10 or less coins, a few fishing weights and bits and pieces, and a large bag of rubbish. But when conditions are right i do very well. Quite a few local beach hunters here, just stand on the clifftops scanning the beach with binoculars, and most days go home without even getting there machines out. You will get to a stage where you can just know if its going to be good or not just by looking at the beach. On my local beachs the last couple years Dry sand searchers have beaten the wet sand diggers very easily!

at the end of the day, if you hunt regularly you will hit the good stuff, beaches change on a daily basis, weather and tides all play a role in the demographics, constructive and destructive waves play a big part in this as well as having confidence in your machine, but when alls said and done, you have to walk over it to find it ::g
