zxadi you burk ! Those aren't 303s. They are WW2 GERMAN 7.92mm cartridges !!!!!!!!!!!!

Check out my thread in the ordnance forum on headstamps and you will be able to see what the headstamps mean :) :) (all appear to be made in 1939 and probably from the Battle of Britain !!!!)

I thought that the Germans took all their cartridges home with them; whilst the RAF spewed them out all over the countryside???

They did Christoph. These are almost certainly from a shot down aircraft, possibly a bomber trying to lose some weight by chucking out everything they could.

The live round indicates either one a plausible possibility.

This is fairly typical for the southern end of Felixstowe by the martello tower, most of the ammo was dredged from the north sea and pumped on the shore, millions of tons from the Thames estruary? The very old lead bullets have probably always been on the beach as I found hundreds of them before the dredging started, I believe the firing range was along there, you can see the "butts" on the nature reserve, I never found any american 50 cal until after the dredging then I found dozens, mostly Des Moines. There are always fisherman along that stretch so weights are plentiful but dont expect a lot of old coinage, it is buried way down! Old coins are mostly between crazy golf and the theatre, above the high tide mark is mostly dog turds, trash and modern coinage =))

As someone said above. I think you have a live round. The one with the bullet still in it, third one along. You can tell if they have been fired by looking at the bottom. If the small round firing cap has been struck it will leave a firing pin indentation. Your one does not look as if it has been struck. So you should take it down the police station. Soetimes you can still have a live round even though it has been struck, if the bullet is still in the casing. It would be a duff round, but still have the cordite in it.
