Perhaps a silly question regarding frequency.

Ok, so I really like hunting my ploughed and seeded in Deus fast. It has kinda got me used to the machine. I'm running stock from the menu but have altered the tone frequencies up a bit to allow me to get used to my new Deus Chefphones (which are the dogs ' ! - don't bother building your own, there's a bloke on here who makes 'em !).
So question is: everyone goes on about how 18Khz will find you the "tiny" goods, and they are not wrong, I have been digging tiny Roman minims a lot with this, air gun pellets etc etc., but I have been reading how some folk are running FAST in. 12Khz ...... So today I tried it ........
Here it is : Will all 4 freqs detect ALL targets ? Will 18Khz see BIG items just as easily as it does small? Will lower freqs MISS OUT small goods - if so, which Freekin Frequency do you hunt in and when ....... Just when I thought I was getting to grips with the Deus

i had this discussion today with a man who really knows the Deus and by using it in 12Khz what you are actually doing is recreating another program . Take a look at your control box and see what Deus fast is running in , then see what you want to change it to, then you will see it is already there in a preset program hope this helps

I've been using my custom prog at 12 kHz since I bought my Deus. I originally done this because my pro pointer would drive my machine nuts at 18 kHz and I hadn't discovered the shift capability then. Anyway 12 kHz works superb for me as a mix of depth and target size with several cut quarters to prove small stuff and some pre decimal pennies at nearly 18 inches on pasture. Have a play around and see what suits you.......good luck!

I saw somewhere on this forum a good graphic that showed what the different frequencis looked like on a graph. Basically if you had a tightly wound spring about four inches long say and held the first inch then pulled, the coils would be tighter where you held them and this would detect copper say in the tight coil area. If you held the middle of the spring the coils would be tight in the middle say, and would be good for finding gold, Then if you just held the last inch and pulled all the tight caoils would be at the other end and pick up silver. The loose part of the coiled spring will still pick up the other metals but not as well as the tight coiled bit, which will be tuned to a certain conductivity of the different metals.

That, my friend, is the perfect answer to my question. That spring analagy explains it all perfectly and means I can concentrate on getting on with my machine.
Seriously, a very good and simple answer to what is, in essence, a very complicated question.
