Hi Benny,
Do you mean the batteries in the Deus?, as far as I am aware they will last longer than 2 years, if one goes faulty during the warranty period (2 years) it would of course be covered & replaced.

Obviously as with all the batteries it will get exhausted eventually and it will depend very much on how much you use your machine, the life of batteries is usually represented by the number of charges and so can't effectively be represented in terms of time.
Regton did sell a kit to replace the coil battery, though this seems to have disappeared from their website :-/
A more important question is what happens and at what cost when the headphone and main controller batteries go?

I was told, when I bought my Deus in Toulouse last year, that when the battery in the coil start to weaken (in other word when it will only charge up to 80%) it's at it's best (????) for detecting, and when it finally gives up the ghost,in 7 to 10 years (WOOOOOOOOOW) it will cost 70€ to be replaced by XP,I'm just repeating what the salesman told me!

As I say, you can't measure it by time. Most lithium batteries are advertised as having a shelf life of around 10 years and a recharge life of approximately 250 cycles, so given that the "average" detectorist uses their machine once a week and presumably recharges at the same rate, then your still looking at over 4 years of detecting.

We bought our first deus 2.5 years ago from Leisute Promotion so the warranty is out. The batteries are still in good order at the moment so fingers crossed for a long life. Mick T did say when we bougt the deus that the search coil will need to be sent to Regton for replacing the batteries when the time comes, the cost he said was £25 -£30. When you consider the amount of money you have saved on buying batteries thats good value for money I reckon.

I have just had Regtons repair my small coil last week, there was a problem with the
transmitter and it had to be sent to XP in France who replaced it for free even though it was out
of warranty by about two years, I also had the battery replaced while Regtons had it and along with
P&P this cost just under £50, Brilliant service again from Nigel & XP and thats my coil as good as new
for years to come.

the battery in the control box is a E&J 651939 400maH 3.7 v ,so anything 3.7 V with the tiny plug will do you ,it can be slightly bigger as theres room for a bit bigger and meatier battery ,so long as you stick with 3.7v ,just needs a philips screwdriver for the 4 screws .

here is a photo of inside showing battery ,which is stuck down with double sided tape and plugged in ,so just unstick and plug in the new battery. 10 minute job

a new battery can be obtained off the bay for between 7-99 upwards

i also checked the battery in the backphones and its the same as the remote control battery size ,3.7v 400maH ,so you should be able to replace the 2 for around 16 quid. from that well known source online.if you shop hard you could prolly get the price down even lower as i bought a 3.7v Lipo battery for a nintendo at Maplins today for 2.89p !and thats a 600maH Lipo battery .
