RAF Hunmanby Moor was based at Butlins and thousands of Free French were based in Filey as well so a heavy military presence in the area.

Andy

i have had some more hand grenade bits today different to the others i have found that i need to research further including a striker spring still inside its brass housing. the brass housing has taken the shape of the spring due to the internal pressure of the blast, but still intact.
it just amazes me just whats on that beach.
