Hiya all,
Just need some advice here: running a tweaked FAST program on a new site that has today given up five roman bronzes and a brooch ( will post pix later ).
The site is littered with iron, and its tough going trying to pick good signals.
If I run Iron Vol at 0 is this going to help ? Sounds like an obvious, but would like to be sure.ghanks

I've backed the 'iron volume' right off after finding a 'hotspot' A I didn't notice any change in performance.....It'll help sort the wheat from the chaff if it's badly infested.
I've reduced the iron volume right down so it's just loud enough to hear. This way it saves me getting a headache from a swarm of hornets on some of my iron infested fields! It's handy to have buzz left as it can help you determine areas of activity in quiet fields.....
Thanks for the advice that you've put in. Always wondered about the function of IV.
I saw a youTube video that was most helpful with determining whether deep iron (95 and above) was determinable by using the tip ( approach) of the coil to get the "burp" - I use this a lot now before I dig - will 0 Iron Vol mean I end up digging loads of falsies ?

Yes, by reducing Iron Volume to zero you only hear part of the signal and therefore don't get the 'full' signal thus leading to iffy signals, Norfolk Wolf once told me, "No such thing as an iffy signal, only an iffy analysis, how can you make a good judgment with only half the evidence" bless him.
If I was on your iron infested site I would use Deus Fast as a basis, turn reactivity to 5, back sensitivity down to 75/80 and strangely turn UP iron volume as it makes it easier to differentiate sometimes with it up higher, forget worrying about depth, this should make the machine so much easier to use and will winkle items far easier, think of the site that you simply say to yourself "forget it" & this will transform it for you.
Good one this how i have been searching a iron infested river site this week with the Deus not going for depth found over 100 coins, 9k sov ring, Lizzy 1st shilling vicy model sov ,tons fo finds all shallow among iron and crap.
