It was caked in black crud that probably kept the condition which picked off quite easily then a quick polish with silvo wadding.
It was about 8inch's down in the bottom of a gully and doesn't look like it moved since it was dropped.

Nice silver find my beach has given up some nice old silver coins the last set of tides had two vicy 3d and a few florins and a nice halfcrown and some 6d. ::g
